Pheromones.

Like all Orion women, Gaila produces pheromones that make her sexually enticing, this is through causing a chemical imbalance of adrenaline in the brain which can lead to delusional behaviours, these can be very potent if she doesn’t have her suppressor tablets that allow her to continue life around humans and other species without causing an accidental sex riot. In human females, Orion pheromones are said to give headaches and cause irritability (but some say that’s just down to jealousy) and also disrupts the sleep cycle of male Denobulans. Vulcans, on the other hand are completely immune to Orion pheromones, whether male or female.

The effects of Gaila’s pheromones are cumulative, meaning the longer somebody is around her, the more exposed they are to the effects of her pheromones. Normally in games, to allow people to opt out I play it as affecting people's brain chemistry, regardless of sex or usual preferences meaning if can effect people more widely (irrespective of their sex or gender) or not at all, depending on player preference and in accordance with player's comfort.

I fully understand that Gaila's pheromones can be an uncomfortable thing for some players, so before assuming they have an affect on your character, I will ask you about it if you haven't filled his permission post in. Red painted toes padded through the corridor as Gaila peered through doors and shouted at the top of her lungs. Fuck there were waaaaay too many rooms around here. The Orion flicked her hair over her shoulder with a tempestuous sigh. It must have been a good six weeks since she had arrived in Pandora but from what she could tell she didn't even want to see the areas outside what she'd had the misfortune to see already. Better to align yourself to the most powerful force possible than to try and suffer through out of some twisted sense of nobility or honourable intentions.

Screw that. Gaila stopped, putting her hands on her voluptious hips. Where was a bot when you needed one? "Babe!"

Welcome to Oria Minora, the smallest planet of the Orion group. On day 355 the Egime will land in the trading centre of Verex III, the capital city of Oria Minora. It is famed for its stunning views of the deserts, temples to The Goddess and the universe famous Orion slavegirls that are both trained and sold in the great city itself. The city is a literal oasis in the middle of an arid and unpleasant environment. The city is built into an octagonal shape with a circular main city centre sitting in the middle. Verex III is protected from the harshness of the desert land that it was built on by a protective deflector shield. Exits to the city are closely guarded and not an option of non-citizens. Why would you want to go outside when inside the city is simply so beautiful and full of wonders?

Citizens

Orions are known for their distinctive bright green skin. Orion males are typically bald and, on average, taller and more muscular than the average Human male. Orion females were very animalistic in nature, known for their extreme carnal appetites and their innate skill of seduction. The Orion people tend to dress very scantly, as befitting the desert environment that they inhabit. It is important to note that Orion females have powerful pheromones which cause headaches and fatigue in women and strong sexual urges in men. You can read more about it here. For the purposes of fairness, if you don't want your character to be affected by the Orions' pheromones it has been pre-established that some people are simply immune to them, or conversely for women are affected by them in the more masculine sense. They are a hospitable people and will happily throw huge parties with great feasts for their guests, but make no mistake, they are shrewd tradespeople and will rob you blind if you give them half a chance.

Locations

To the North are the temples dedicated to The Goddess. They are beautiful golden buildings with brightly coloured inner chambers all dedicated to the worship of the Orion deities. The North-East corner holds the trading yards where Egime is parked, everything you could have want for from Starship fuel to the finest technology that money can buy is available to you here for a good price or a fair trade. Be on your guard for pick-pockets though. To the East a traveller will find the city's many brothels and companion houses. There's something to suit everybody tastes there from every corner of the galaxy. The South-East is where slaves are held before processing or being sent on to their new owners, it is closely guarded by city guards and visitors will soon be shooed away unless they have intent to buy a slave for themselves. South the common markets that caters to visitors more average needs such as produce and clothing. To the South-West is where the grand palace can be found as well as the grand homes of the citizens that live in Verex III. West caters for visitors who require nourishment and a dirth of bars. The North-West corner has the fresh Oasis where visitors and citizens alike are invited to bathe and enjoy the refreshing cool waters. The City Centre is where the slave market is held every three hours, right through the day, on the hour.

Events

Orions are a curious people by nature and very envious. As such, on the morning of Day 356 a group of rich merchants will be sending a group of their slavegirls to come visit the ship. And what does that mean? Nothing other than a boatload of Orion pheromones floating around the ship at full potency. PCs who stay on the ship for more than three hours will be affected by the pheromones and will fall under their control leading them to want to tear the closest person's clothes off and go at it like rabbits.
Orions have a bad habit of kidnapping people and selling them on for profit. Hold onto your loved ones people because if you don't keep yourself and your friends safe they might just get sold off to a rich Orion prince. However, they'll automatically get pulled back to the Egime after it leaves the planet, so your incarceration shouldn't be for too long.

FAQs:

I don't like the smut plot so can I opt out and what can I do instead?

Absolutely! There's no obligation to be involved in the smut plot at all. It's there if you want to use it but if not feel free just to send your characters around the city and enjoying the many sights to be found!

Does my male/female character have to be affected by the Orion women's pheromones?

No. I leave this in the hands of the player character. If you don't want your character to experience the effect of the pheromones the way typical for their sex then you don't have to. Feel free to nerf the power all together or choose an alternative reaction to the pheromones. People have different brain chemistries, it isn't beyond the realm of belief.

How long are we here?

Three IC days. Day 355 to Day 357.

What happens if my character is kidnapped and sold?

Not too much. Best case scenario is that they get pampered and fussed over like a rather exotic pet. Worst case scenario is that they get put to work cleaning for some Orion clanhouse. It is what you make of it.

I need supplies, what can I get in Verex III?

The common marketplace is the place to go if you're after your hearts desires. It's a little more technologically advanced than most of the cultures that the ship has previously visited. There's everything from clothing, exotic oils and advanced warp tech. Food will be a little more expensive than in other ports as it's a limited resource and they don't get that many human visitors. Basically whatever you want Orions have a guy to get you that thing. At a cost.

Will there be any NPCs that my character can interact with?

Yes! On the third day the Orion slavegirls that come onto the ship will be available as NPCs to talk to! I, Claire, will be running the NPCs so feel free to send me a plurk message or PM if you want something in particular.

Will my vampire characters be affected by the Sun?

Yes! The Orion sun does have UV in it and will affect vampires of the sun-adverse type. However, this isn't much of a worry because Verex II is a 24/7 party city that never sleeps. Shops, bars, brothels are open all hours of the day and night.

My character is a member of Starfleet, can they get in contact with HQ and get everyone rescued?

Sorry, no! Orion has not yet made contact with the Federation of Planets and would not take kindly to visitors bringing a whole fleet of ships to their front door. For plot purposes, it is the year 2148. Orions have had some contact with other species through trade but are nowhere near being a Federation friendly state.

Will there be a party log or will I just set up my own?

I will set up a log for characters to interact with the Orion slavegirls that come onto the ship on Day 356 but otherwise feel free to set up you own logs.

It was so stereotypical it was almost painful.

Gaila sighed. A cornfield. Of all the fucking places to crash. A cornfield. Probably in the middle of America as well. Maybe this was Iowa that Jim was always talking about. Didn't he say there were a lot of farms there? But still, her clanmother had always said to her that a good shuttle accident was one that she could up and walk away from. And she had been able to extract herself from the wreck relatively easily, stripping it of all the gadgets and devices that she might need to survive in this new environment.

Then, she sat and waited, hidden deeper into the cornfield but maintaining a good viewpoint of the crashsite.

Sooner or later someone was going to come and investigate what that big flashy thing was that had fallen from the sky was and when they did, Gaila was going to steal their vehicle.

These simple bands are not of great value in and of themselves, but they will be made quite precious by your wearing of them. Gaila is an ex-slave girl who decided that she no longer wanted to just dance and screw for her living. While she enjoyed being a kept woman for her patron, she was no longer satisfied with staying on Orion, it was too much of the same and not enough adventure for her. At a very young age she was taken from the rest of her clansisters to learn how to become a slave girl, having being picked for her beauty and keen observations, a skill that would benefit her in later life.

She was an excellent courtesan while on Orion, highly regarded as one of the best nights one could have while staying on the planet, and so had created a small treasure trove of jewellery and pretty trinkets given to her by enamoured clients and her patron. She used these to buy herself from her own master, buying her own freedom through an early retirement - a highly irregular happening for a slave girl as young as Gaila - and chose to go to the Federation to join Starfleet. She got the idea of joining the Federation from a Andorian delegate of Starfleet that told her of the 'fleet while spending an evening with her and after hearing of her boredom with the slave girl way of life.

Presentation: Gaila could easily be described as a good time girl, she’s a very bubbly character, somebody who enjoys everything that she can because a lifetime just isn’t long enough to do everything that she wants to. She is a sensualist by nature, enjoying food immensely - despite not being able to actually eat it she does enjoy the tasting part - which would account for her well curved figure. She isn’t somebody who believes in self denial and has made it her personal mission to touch, taste, see, hear and smell everything within a five light-year radius of each other. She has a rather fatalistic ‘live for today’ attitude that sometimes – most of the time actually – gets her into trouble as she rarely thinks of the consequences of her actions. A good example of this being bringing Kirk back to her shared room despite knowing Uhura hates her bringing guys back and hates Kirk too. Ultimately her goal in life is to have as much fun as she can with the time she has.

Gaila cares very deeply for nearly everybody that she meets, hence why she shares herself with so many of them as she feels sexual intimacy is merely another form of expressing love. She loves every single person that she has sex with, even if it’s only a shallow form of love, it definitely exists. As shown when she tells Kirk during their encounter “Jim, I think I love you.” being mildly offended when he labels that as ‘weird’ as she thinks of this as a perfectly normal way to express affection. While she isn't expressing a wish to be emotionally intimate to him this is her manner of opening herself up intimately to him, saying that she cares for him.

Gaila is pansexual. Sex, race, appearance, gender. None of that matters to her. This comes from the culture she grew up in being very sexually fluid and not being judgemental when it comes to matters pertaining to sex. In terms of sexual preferences, she has very few and she isn't picky with her partners. For Gaila, having sex is along the same lines of saying hello to somebody, it's a means of communicating and becoming closer to somebody. That being said, she also does it because it's downright fun. She can use it manipulative sometimes however and occasionally will overstep boundaries - such as over touching people or flirting with siblings at the same time - because she doesn't understand sexual taboos. Gaila is very charming and flexible, she lives to please others and be given attention. Gaila just wants to be loved.

It can be quite easy to confuse Gaila with pop culture references, but once she understands them she’ll use them repeatedly, she rarely gets annoyed at not understanding Human or other cultures, preferring to learn about it rather than getting herself frustrated about it.

Motivations: Gaila is very aware of her limitations when it comes to knowledge and simply does the best she can with the many talents she has. Gaila is the most afraid of being unloved, she needs and craves attention very badly and without it she can often turn to sulking and acting out. For somebody who has been used to being in the spotlight and praised and petted it's difficult for her to deal with being ignored.

Her primary motivation is her need for independence and adventure.

Gaila wasn't fond of sleeping alone.

It didn't feel right not to have someone to curl up to in the night, to play with another person's hair while she drifted off and to share in joint body warmth in the cool of night. It was a habit that came from when she was young and living in the slavehouse when she slept with her sisters curled around her, but Gaila found she slept far better with someone in bed with her.

Thankfully she had friends that were willing to indulge the more odd of her sleeping habits. Such as Ming. Dear, sweet, indulging, magical Ming. The Orion nuzzled her head into the crook of the other woman's neck, pulling her closer in her sleep. She was such a good friend. Ming that was, Ming was a good friend. Gaila sighed happily, tightening her arm around the other woman's waist and wondered what she was dreaming about.
